Dog Friendly Hotels to Travel with your Favorite Companion

We love our dogs and want them by our side. According to the National Pet Owners Survey, approximately 78% of American pet owners travel with their four-legged friends each year. The boom in pet travel has encouraged more and more hotels to be pet friendly.

Read below for a guide on the dog policies of some popular hotel chains. All hotels ask that you notify them when checking in if you have a pet with you. While all listed are dog friendly hotels, some do go the extra mile. There is a noticeable difference between dog friendly and dog loving. When packing, be sure to bring vaccination records, as some hotels require them.

Years ago, we took Harry on an overnight trip just for fun and stayed at a hotel. We started the day at a vineyard for some wine tasting. After checking into a DoubleTree location in Connecticut, we walked to a restaurant with outdoor seating that allowed dogs.

Always research parks and outdoor restaurants ahead of time so that you and your pup can visit together. On our journeys, I have always found that breweries and vineyards are typically dog friendly (especially outside and sometimes inside). And some surprising local stores. Traveling with your dog can be rewarding and a great adventure for you both. Careful planning will make it so much less stressful!
