Luxury Dog Travel: Hotels are Rolling out the Red Carpet

Due to our obsession with our pups, dog friendly hotels are becoming the norm when traveling. Some hotels take this approach to a whole new level. Luxury hotels have programs to pamper, fawn over, and entertain our pups.


Here are 14 hotels taking the dog pampering to the extreme (as it should be):




  1. The Plaza in New York, NY

  • Rooms can easily be over $1000 per night

  • No fee for dogs

  • Accepts dogs of all sizes

  • Pampered pooch package

  • The pampered Pooch Package fee depends on the room you are staying in

  •  Dog friendly macarons for a light snack

  • Bathrobe for your pup

  • The Plaza lists the bathrobe sizes on its website. If your pup needs a custom size, it can be accommodated for a fee of $100-$175.

  • Bed and bowls provided

  • A bottle of Evian water for your pup to lap up


  1. Ocean House in Westerly, RI


  • Prices in summer can easily be over $1500 per night

  • $195 fee for dogs

  • 50 lb weight limit and 2 dogs are allowed

  • The hotel offers a Pet Passionate Package

  • Dinner can be ordered from the Ocean House's Pooch Menu

  • Dog sitting services

  • A dog toy to keep

  • Designer dog bed to use in the room

  • Concierge to provide pet friendly near by areas


  1. Four Seasons Atlanta in Atlanta, GA


  • Prices can range from $400-$4000 per night

  • No fee under and only a dog under 35 lb

  • A plush bed provided

  • Personalized handkerchief with your dog's name

  • Bowls if needed

  • Pee pads

  • Blueberry biscuits

  • The concierge will arrange pet sitting


  1. The Peninsula Chicago in Chicago, IL


  • $ 600 - $2000 per night to stay at the Peninsula

  • $250 fee for dogs under 30 lb

  • 31-50 lb there is a fee of $400

  • During the summer months, there is a restaurant with a dog-friendly outdoor patio

  • Room service with gourmet options (the menu is on their website- caviar anyone?)


  1. Bardessono Hotel and Spa in Yountville, CA (Napa Valley)


  • Rooms are well over $600 per night

  • Cabernet canine package: $200 fee for the stay

  • Welcome goodies

  • Bandana

  • Waste bags

  • 1 complimentary item from the Barkessono menu (including apple sausage and eggs)

  • Reservations at Lucy Restaurant and Bar with your pup

  • Recommendations for dog-friendly vineyards nearby


  1. Hawks Cay Resort in Duck Key, Florida


  • Resort ranges from $300-$900 depending on the season

  • 2 pets are $150  per night, no limit to size

  • Dedicated pup planner concierge

  • $250 fee, no other limitations are mentioned

  1. Utah Waldorf Astoria Park City in Park City, UT


  • Rooms $500 or more

  • $100 one-time fee (dogs only)

  • No maximum weight listed

  • Greeted with in-room welcome amenities such as bowls and comfy dog bed

  • Partners with a shelter to take available dogs out for hikes and snuggle with puppies

  • Provides a Director of Pet Relations



10. Montage Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, SC

  • $100 fee up to two dogs for the stay

  • Summer months $500 plus, in winter $200 plus

  • No mention of fee for dogs

  • Dog-themed hotel

  • Each room has a whimsical bed for your dog, which is a built-in bed that looks like a dog house

  • Maximum 2 dogs per room

  • Each room has dog bowls

  • List on their website of dog friendly excursions and walks

  • Per their website, you may leave your dog unattended in your room

  • Rooftop deck (also known as rufftop deck), enjoy a sunset with your pup


12. Paw House Inn in West Rutland, VT


  • Prices range from $250-$385, depending on the time of the year

  • Custom-built bed for your pup to rest

  • Well-behaved dogs are welcome even at breakfast

  • On-site dog facility where you can leave your dog in their care for your own dog-free excursion

  • Off-leash park in their backyard

  • Local vets on call


13.   La Quinta Resort & Club in Palm Springs, CA

  • Resort prices range from $400 to well over $1000

  • $150 one-time dog fee per stay

  • PAWS La Quinta Canine Experience (in-room and resort amenities)

  • 45 acres plus to roam

  • Hiking trails

  • Dog bed and bowls provided

  • Partnership with PupJoy for a box with a toy, treat, and travel bowls

  • $100 one-time fee for any dog under 60 lb

  • Near trails and parks to explore

  • In-room dining menu that includes desserts for your pup

  • Provides plush bedding for snoozes

  • A Four Seasons dog toy

  • Water and food bowls and waste bags are available if needed

  • Partnering with dog sitting and dog walking services


These are just a few options to consider when traveling with our favorite companions! While the luxurious amenities are wonderful for the pups I especially love the access to a vet in case of emergencies. That removes some of the stress that can be involved when traveling.
